PROJECT: A new Headspace service model to secure funding

Our work with Medicare Local in Tasmania (now Primary Health Networks) helped secure a $1.5 million dollar Government grant to establish Headspace in Northern Tasmania.

The development of the application began with understanding the present situation with service delivery - what was happening and what were the positions and interests of all groups and organisations involved. It quickly became obvious that to write a successful application we needed to manage the existing territorial behavior and gain agreement on a new service model.

We worked with all groups involved, using validated processes that lead to each letting go of their piece of the puzzle and together, building a different picture of how services could and should be delivered. The end service model represented common ground and common sense. In this model, the consumer was at the centre.

Additional to the $1.5m secured in funding, the steering group also attracted in-kind support with the hand over of a city centre building to operate from along with further sponsorship for its renovation.
